Honoring the traditional skill of storytelling through layered beadwork.

Pattern Keeper is a stereo looper with tape-like pitch shifting and reverse playback along with synth-inspired filtering. Simple melodies become complex, evolving textures through real-time layering. Like traditional beadwork, Pattern Keeper transforms single elements into meaningful stories through thoughtful and creative layering.

Key Sound Characteristics

  • Tape-like pitch shifting from octave down to octave up: Real-time pitch manipulation that changes both pitch and speed, just like tape. Slow your loop down to a crawl or pitch it up to complete chaos, all while you play. The center-detent knob lets you snap back to the original pitch instantly.

  • Synth-inspired filtering with single-knob control: Fourth-order digital filters modeled after analog synth topology. Turn left of center for low-pass warmth that rolls off highs, right of center for high-pass lofi telephone vibes that cut lows. The center detent lets you snap back to no filtering instantly.

  • Instant reverse and forward playback: Flip the toggle and your loops play backwards or forwards, revealing hidden melodies and textures you didn't know you created. Combine reverse playback with pitch shifting and filtering to transform familiar phrases into completely new sounds.

  • Expression pedal control over multiple parameters: Map volume, pitch, filter, playback direction, and loop triggering to any standard expression pedal. Your foot becomes another instrument, morphing loops in real-time while your hands stay free to add layers. Extend your control with synth-like sweeping, tape-like warping, or keep it simple with just volume swells.

  • Dedicated controls with no double-tapping or menu diving: One button does one thing. No complicated double-tapping, just a simple press for record, play, and delete. No hidden menus when you're grooving. You stay in the moment building layers, not breaking flow to remember button combinations. Simple yet effective.

  • 60 seconds of stereo recording at 48kHz, 24-bit: High-resolution stereo capture with room for multiple layers and textures. True stereo operation means you can run mono or stereo sources and route to dual outputs independently. Up to 60 seconds of recording time lets you build complex, evolving textures without worrying about running out of space.

Here's how Blackfeet tradition shaped the engineering.

In Blackfeet culture, beadwork is storytelling through carefully layering beads within a pattern. Our ancestors would stack individual beads, each one adding to a larger design without losing its own character. It wasn't just decoration, it was how we recorded history, marked important moments, and told stories.

Most loopers are built for the bedroom, not the live musician. We went a different direction. Pattern Keeper is built with simple, dedicated controls that let you build layers intuitively in real-time. No overwhelming menus or crazy double taps. Just record, play, and delete. Just like beadwork builds row by row, Pattern Keeper builds layer by layer. Manipulate each melody with pitch and filtering and let complex textures come naturally.

The stacked arrow design on Pattern Keeper represents exactly what beadwork taught us: small individual elements, layered with intention, create something larger and more complex than any single piece. The evolving colors reflect Pattern Keeper's real-time manipulation. As you shift pitch, reverse direction, and sweep filters, your loops transform just like the patterns reveal themselves in the beadwork. Your loops aren't just repeated phrases. They're layered stories that build meaning as you create them.

Flip it over and you'll see the full story of why the Pattern Keeper exists and how my Blackfeet heritage shaped it.

You're not buying a pedal. You're joining musicians who see their pedalboards as expressions of their values and their sound. We believe the tools we use to create should carry the same intention and meaning as the music we make.

That's how we keep Blackfeet culture alive. Not behind glass, but in action.
