Key Sound Characteristics

  • Fuzzed-Out Octave: Clangy, bitey textures with sharp upper harmonics that set the baseline for an in-your-face tone. This is the foundation of Commodity Fuzz, and it hits with a distinctive edge.

  • Chaotic and Aggressive: Raw, abrasive tones that cut through the mix with unapologetic intensity. The kind of sonic breakup that gives your sound its wild, untamed character.

  • Dissonant Chord Mangler: Warps complex chords into beautifully chaotic, distorted textures. Every note becomes a bold statement.

  • Signal Chain Freedom: Built-in impedance matching lets Commodity Fuzz sound exactly the same no matter where you put it in your chain. After modulation, before delay, last in line. Total freedom.

  • Volume on Tap: Our transformerless octave design gives your signal room to breathe. No more cranking your amp just to get back to unity. Tons of volume, ready to go.

Here's how Blackfeet tradition shaped the engineering.

Commodity goods carry a complex and dark history in our Native community. When our buffalo, the mainstay of the Blackfeet’s existence, disappeared and our people were forced onto reservations, government-issued foods became what we relied on to survive. Even today, those simple, monochromatic commodity foods remain a staple in many Native households. Yet out of these came creative adaptations like frybread, symbols of the resourcefulness and resilience of our people. Growing up, I remember seeing these products in the pantry. While they remind us of a dark past, they also stand as a symbol of what was meant to weaken us ultimately strengthened us.

That same spirit of transformation guided every decision on this pedal. Most fuzz pedals box you in. They have to be first in your chain. They do one thing and one thing only. We didn’t vibe on that. We built Commodity Fuzz with a set internal impedance at the input of the fuzz circuit so it sounds exactly the same no matter where you put it in your signal chain. Our transformerless octave design gives your signal room to breathe with tons of volume on tap, while an integrated parallel low-pass filter in the octave stage shapes the octave tone into something smooth and musical without losing that aggressive edge.

Each Commodity Fuzz is hand-biased by ear, giving every unit its own sonic personality. The enclosure design is inspired by the classic “commodity” look. Generic government packaging with a basic image of the product on the box. We took that same approach and put a picture of a pedal on the pedal, with wording pulled straight from commodity food packaging and spiced up to fit the aggressive flavor of Commodity Fuzz. From the electronics to the artwork, every detail honors the creativity and resourcefulness of our Native community.

Flip it over and you'll see the full story engraved on the back.

The history, the heritage, and the reason this pedal exists. This isn’t just a pedal purchase. You’re joining musicians who believe gear should carry meaning beyond circuitry, who choose tools that reflect their values, and who understand that cultural preservation happens through creation.

Not by locking heritage behind glass, but by keeping it alive in the music you make.
