0:00 - 0:41 Seared edges.

In this first clip, we’ve set volume and tone at one o’clock and gain at two o’clock. This setting gives us a big boost in the lows and mids while accentuating harmonics in the top end with an aggressive breakup for a thick, distorted fuzz tone.

0:42 - 1:34 Bloom and Doom.

Leaving the volume at one o’clock. we’ll decrease the tone to 11 o’clock and crak the gain control. This higher gain setting produces a blooming effect when you dig in. This imparts a filter-like quality that responds to your playing dynamics.

Rhythms that rock.

Next, let’s roll the gain back to around eleven o’clock. This will tighten up the low end and give us a more focused breakup for a rhythm tone that sits just right.

1:19 - 1:57 Chugging along. 1,5,3

Alright, let’s bring the gain down some but crank the tone control to emphasize the sparkle from our single coil neck pickup. The resulting tone is both fat and biting with rough and tumble breakup and enough articulation for complex chords.

1:58 - 2:14 Saturated fatness. 1,11,2

In this next example we’ve pulled the tone control back to eleven o’clock and decreased the gain to two o’clock. While this is a milder overall fuzz setting, the riff utilizes a harder playing dynamic resulting in a versatile tone that reminds me of cranking a small amp to its breaking point.

2:15 - 2:56 From gentle to giant. 1,11,10

Let’s check out Frybread Fuzz with a softer playing dynamic to hear how it can transform your tone from thin and airy to big and hairy. We’ve dialed the volume to one o’clock, and set both tone and gain to eleven. The result is a complex breakup with added sustain that beautifully fills in the negative spaces of your playing.

Maximum mids. 1,12,10

For this example we’ve dialed all controls to noon. This is a great starting point for getting into the heavier side of Frybread Fuzz, delivering a mid focused fuzz with a growling lows and tastefully refined highs that cut through any mix.

Floating through the fuzz. 1, 3, 11

We’ll leave you with a dreamy chord progression. Let’s leave volume and fuzz where they are, but pull the tone control back to about three o’clock. This gives us a wooly fuzz tone with a complex harmonic texture.

Let’s make some noise!
