The Story Behind Niisoo

Niisoo Harmonic Equalizer is a tribute to my Blackfeet (Amskaapi Piikuni) heritage and the sacred significance of the number four in our cultural understanding. In Blackfeet tradition, the number four represents the eternal cycle of seasons—each bringing its own wisdom, challenges, and gifts. Spring brings new beginnings and fresh possibilities, Summer provides movement and abundance, Fall prepares us through the hunt and harvest, and Winter offers time for storytelling, teaching, and deep reflection.

The design represents a traditional blanket, one of our most important cultural tools that provides both physical protection and serves as a canvas for storytelling through its patterns. Just as our ancestors understood that blankets are gifts meant to be shared—tools that comfort, protect, and inspire—we offer Niisoo as a musical tool to inspire your exploration into uncharted sonic territory. The four colors celebrate the seasonal cycle that guided our ancestors, reminding us that growth comes from embracing both the comfortable and the unknown, the familiar and the wildly creative.
